What's New for 2025?
This year, the Maverick's hybrid powertrain is no longer the standard offering. Now, its hybrid setup will cost an extra $1,500 for those Milwaukee shoppers who want it. The new base powertrain is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder coupled with front-wheel drive.
Trims
The new Ford Maverick is available in three main trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.
XL As a base model, the XL is fairly bare bones. However, it does offer LED headlights, an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and a six-speaker stereo.
XLT This mid-tier trim adds to the base equipment with features like upgraded upholstery, a rear center armrest with cupholders, and a power-locking tailgate.
Lariat As the highest trim, the Lariat offers all the features of the previous two trims along with a host of other tech. The new tech includes a trailer hitch, synthetic leather upholstery, heated seats, and a navigation system with voice control. Additionally, an eight-speaker B&O premium sound system is also offered.
Performance
Every trim of the Maverick comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 250 horsepower and 277 lbs.-ft of torque. Each model is also paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available.
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a hybrid system is optional, and it outputs a combined 191 hp and 155 lbs.-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission and is only available with front-wheel drive.
The Maverick also offers 1,500 pounds of payload capacity and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity. According to the EPA, models with the base turbocharged engine have an estimated 23/30 mpg, while the hybrid powertrain is rated at 42/33 mpg.
Design
While there isn't much to say about the Maverick's exterior, there's plenty of note about its interior. Since all models are crew cabs, each trim has four full-size doors and a spacious back seat. Though base models are far from luxurious, they do offer several amenities, such as a tilting and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, remote keyless entry, and adjustable lumbar support for the front seats. According to Ford, the Maverick's 4.5-foot bed can fit up to 18 sheets of four-by-eight-with ease and features a 12-volt power outlet, with a 110-volt outlet offered as an option.
Technology
Coming standard on all Maverick modes is an eight-inch touchscreen system, and with it comes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. Optional features include a SiriusXM satellite radio, a B&O Play stereo system, and wireless smartphone charging. In the highest trim, a navigation system becomes available, and it can be controlled with simple voice commands.
Safety
While the Ford Maverick comes with many advanced driver-aids to keep you safe, most systems are offered in the highest trim. Forward collision mitigation is standard, but advanced features such as lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control can only be found in the Lariat trim.
